Frequently Asked Questions (old)

How fast can I drive with the tuning module?

Of course, this depends somewhat on the type of bike and the gear ratio. Usually, 35 km/h will be possible on the flat without any problems or effort. Above 40 km/h, the gear ratio of the bike will usually no longer be sufficient and the pedalling speed will be too high.

The modified speed display means that assistance is theoretically unlimited for Bosch motors up to 50 km/h and for Yamaha motors.

Will the tuning drain my battery faster?

As soon as you ride faster than 25 km/h, the eBike is now powered by the motor, which of course consumes energy. The range will therefore decrease if you ride longer distances over 25 km/h.

Tuning cannot be activated?

After switching on, wait a short moment longer until the tuning module has received power. Move the magnet past the sensor exactly three times and not twice as often by moving it back and forth. Allow a little more time when switching off so that the current is really gone.

How accurate is the modified speed display?

The basis for the accuracy is the wheel diameter stored in the motor control unit, regardless of the tuning module. First adjust this (in the Intuvia, Kiox or Nyon display) or have it changed by your dealer (Purion display). Then carry out the calibration again. The tuning module converts the speed exactly. For example, 32 km/h is displayed exactly as 23.2 km/h.

What are the technical specifications of the Wiesel tuning module?

The module has the dimensions length x width = 20 mm x 10 mm (without connector). This makes it very small and ideal for installation in the engine compartment of an eBike.

The permissible and tested temperature range is from -40°C to +80°C.

The tuning module has no battery that needs to be changed and no rechargeable battery that needs to be recharged. The power consumption is in the µW range and is therefore negligible. When the eBike is switched off, the tuning module is also switched off.

How exactly does the calibration mode work?

First enter calibration mode by switching on the eBike, moving the magnet past the speed sensor 5 times and switching off the eBike. After switching on again, the calibration mode is active and approx. 20 km/h is permanently displayed.

If more than 20 km/h is displayed, move the magnet once past the speed sensor and wait at least 1 second. The speed output by the tuning module will decrease slightly by approx. 0.1 km/h. It may take a few seconds for the speedometer to adjust.

If less than 20 km/h is displayed, move the magnet past the speed sensor twice and also wait at least 1 second. This will increase the displayed speed by approx. 0.1 km/h.

Repeat the process until 20 km/h is displayed and then simply switch off the eBike to complete the calibration.

Where does the Wiesel tuning module come from?

The module was developed in-house out of a passion for electronics and software. The main focus was on clever software in order to achieve as much functionality as possible with simple means.
